Ties Binding Sprint and EarthLink Are Still Strong - Earthlink Network Inc., Sprint Corp - Brief Article

ISP Business, April, 2001

As EarthLink tests its newfound freedom two months after renegotiating an exclusive relationship that it had with Sprint, the ISP realizes that the ties are still strong. EarthLink is cutting new deals, including its latest deal - wireless partnership, providing access to its service through Motorola T900 products. EarthLink also has a deal with Research in Motion that makes EarthLink e-mail available on pagers, as part of its Everywhere strategy.

The reconfigured deal between Sprint and EarthLink allows EarthLink to resell hardware made by wireless vendors other than Sprint. On the other hand, Sprint can now use ISPs other than EarthLink.

With its new wireless deal, EarthLink plans to take advantage of Sprint's position as one of the better wireless network operators in the US, according to an EarthLink Everywhere executive.
