MSN Unveils Music Site - Microsoft Corp - Brief Article

ISP Business, April, 2001

Microsoft unveiled its MSN Music site, the first time it has offered music as part of its on-line content portfolio. The site allows visitors to listen to thousands of on-line radio stations, similar to the offerings of AOL and other Webcasters' sites. MSN adds a recommendation engine that allows listeners to select stations based on their likes and dislikes.

Microsoft does plan to offer a subscription-based service in the future. Its Windows Media and associated copy-protection technology give the company an advantage by assuring the recording industry that MSN can provide a secure download.
