FastVibe Deploys Juniper Networks Routers at Core of Content Distribution Network - Brief Article

ISP Business, July, 2001

Juniper Networks, a provider of next-generation Internet protocol (IP) infrastructure, announced a product deployment at FastVibe, a Canadian content distribution provider. FastVibe is using Juniper Networks M20 Internet backbone routers to deliver broadband multimedia content such as near-DVD quality video and audio content over IP.

The goal of the deployment is to make the service available in every major city in Canada. The first phase of the deployment includes a total of 30 Juniper Networks M20 routers in Toronto, Montreal, and a third major city in western Canada. Phase two continues the deployment from central Canada to the East Coast. FastVibe is focused on using its state-of-the-art network to offer customizable multimedia services.

Juniper Networks IP II ASIC and JUNOS software are key enablers of FastVibe's service. With these technologies, M20 routers can be configured to enable capabilities such as traffic prioritization and customized billing. This provides FastVibe's customers with the ability to deploy high-bandwidth applications in a cost-effective manner.
