Bell Canada Provides Thomas Cook with New BCE Emergis IP Network Solution - Thomas Cook Travel - Brief Article
ISP Business, July, 2001
Bell Canada and BCE Emergis announced the signing of a three-year, $3 million dollar agreement with Thomas Cook Travel to provide a private, fully-managed, e-commerce-ready, wide area network (WAN). The BCE Emergis Business Network (BEBN) will link more than 300 Thomas Cook travel agencies, increasing the speed and security of the company's transactions, while providing agents with a complete snap-shot of all inventory such as hotel reservations, car rentals, and air travel.
As a virtually private Internet-based WAN solution, BEBN is designed to support business-to-business electronic commerce in a highly secure environment. The network provides each agent with access to an internal on-line network, supporting financial transactions, while reducing the complexity and cost of creating and managing a proprietary corporate extranet.
