Incanta Selects Akamai to Optimize Delivery of Broadband Content
ISP Business, August, 2000
Incanta, has teamed with Akamai, a provider of global, high-performance services for the delivery of Internet content, streaming media, and applications. Under the terms of the agreement, Incanta will use Akamai's FreeFlow service to optimize the delivery of Incanta's software and broadband video downloads to Incanta's national network of servers located in broadband service providers' points of presence (PoPs). In turn, Incanta's edge-based servers and software tools will personalize the downloads such that broadband users will receive unique content by leveraging their high-speed connections.
Teaming with Akamai will enable Incanta to host a greater volume of rich, customizable streaming content, as well as to sustain peak performance as its network scales to serve a growing user base. Using Akamai's FreeFlow service also reinforces Incanta's ability to deliver near real-time distribution of its aggregated broadband content.
"We are excited to work with Akamai, the provider of the widest coverage of any content distribution network," said Scott Ryan, CEO and co-founder of Incanta. "This relationship is the next step in developing an unparalleled personalized broadband experience for our broadband service provider affiliates and their users."
"Incanta is a leader in packaging and delivering customizable broadband content to ISPs," said Chris Turner, vice president of North American sales for Akamai. "We're pleased they've chosen Akamai to help enhance and support the performance of its network services as it prepares for exponential growth"
