MegaPath Networks Acquires New York-Based 1Terabit - telecommunication companies - Brief Article

MegaPath Networks Inc., a national broadband services provider serving small- and medium-size businesses, small/home offices, and enterprise telecommuters announced it is acquiring the installed DSL lines of 1Terabit Inc., a DSL service provider in New York City, effective immediately.

The acquisition is the latest in a series planned by MegaPath to continue the rapid deployment of the company's broadband capabilities and value-added services to business users nationwide.

1Terabit customers will receive MegaPath's high-speed DSL access, supported by its renowned customer care. MegaPath was chosen by 1Terabit for its "passion for customer care," as 1 Terabit executives indicated their company would pursue other interests outside the DSL services marketplace.

"We welcome 1Terabit customers to our rapidly growing national network of business users," said Harry Taxin, MegaPath president and CEO. "The 1Terabit agreement is an excellent example of how we plan to expand our services through this and other planned acquisitions."

The acquisition is part of MegaPath's aggressive national expansion through line acquisitions, strategic relations, and organic growth. The company is currently serving 28 major metropolitan areas nationally with a broad range of IDSL, SDSL, and RaDSL services and a wide variety of broadband products and services. MegaPath expects to achieve near-100 percent national metropolitan coverage by early 2001.
