Clearwire to Field Test Fixed-Wireless System from Raze Technologies - Brief Article

Clearwire Technologies, a provider of fixed-wireless Internet connectivity, will trial Raze Technologies, SkyFire system in a series of tests planned as part of Clearwire's nationwide rollout into new markets in 2002. The full-scale national rollout will focus on Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets. The broadband systems Clearwire will test in the coming months will allow the company to provide data services at T-1 speeds or better, utilizing licensed spectrum that will allow for better control of interference than in the unlicensed band.

Clearwire currently offers 128 kbps and 256 kbps fixed wireless broadband service in Dallas, Buffalo, Albuquerque, N.M. and Columbus, Ohio, utilizing unlicensed frequencies.
