Guangdong Telecom Selects Unisphere Networks' ERX Edge Router for IP Networks in China - Brief Article

Unisphere Networks, a provider of IP infrastructure, announced that Guangdong Telecom has selected Unisphere Networks' ERX-1400 edge router for the ability to expand its existing residential and commercial broadband network, ultimately forming one of the largest broadband IP networks in China. The ERX-1400 was chosen for its ASIC-based architecture that enables wire-speed performance of IP routing and next-generation broadband services, such as bandwidth-on-demand, access to streaming media, and SLAs, while maintaining QoS.

Installation of the ERX-1400s occurred during August 2001 in the 12 major cities of Guangdong Province, including Guangzhou, the provincial capital. The ERX 1400s will also be deployed in Shenzhen and Zhuhai, two of China's leading special economic zones (SEZs).
