Intrado introduces wireless platform to support deployment of location services - New Products & Services - Brief Article - Product Announcement

Wireless Internet, Jan, 2002

Intrado's location platform, supported by its own exclusive technology, includes a mobile positioning center (MPC) and gateway mobile location center (GMLC) and offers second-generation features and choices currently unavailable from any other single vendor. Intrado has chosen Compaq 1N7 (Compaq's implementation of the SS7 standard protocol) and Tru64 UNIX system as its hardware and operating system platforms for its initial entry into this market.

The Intrado Location Platform will provide current and future wireless customers with the flexibility and high level of reliability they require as they deploy emergency and commercial services. Customers may license Intrado's technology, buying a turnkey system that is ready to serve customers, or they may choose to purchase services that Intrado will provide as part of its existing location services offerings. Intrado has made a major commitment in terms of time and resources, accumulating valuable experience managing MPCs and GMLCs and collecting feedback from industry resources in order to carefully plan and develop a location platform that is flexible and easy to manage.

During the first quarter of 2002, Intrado will perform end-to-end testing with several wireless service providers, including interoperability testing with multiple wireless switch vendors. Intrado will introduce the location platform to the market in April 2002.
