Gabriel's MBeam Antenna Eliminates Capacity Problems for 2.4 GHz Wireless Broadband Providers - Brief Article

Wireless Internet, March, 2001

Gabriel of Scarborough, ME, a manufacturer of broadband antenna systems, recently announced the introduction of a radically new multibeam antenna design called MBeam. This patent-pending six-beam antenna utilizes smart antenna technology, which manages frequency congestion and interference in the exploding wireless broadband market.

The panel antenna operates in the unlicensed spread spectrum /ISM band of 2.4--2.49 GHz and features a 90 degree beam coverage while utilizing six sector beams. The MBeam features high gain with low sidelobes and is available with optional field removable beam combiners. The combination of the multibeam performance and panel design allows system operators to reduce site clutter considerably while facilitating six times the subscriber capacity compared to a typical location utilizing directional antennas.

MBeam offers system operators site investment savings by reducing the need for additional equipment, site leasing and allowing for swift network launches to satisfy subscriber needs. With fewer antennas, system costs and site maintenance are reduced allowing for efficient network management. The MBeam offers system providers a multitude of possibilities for today and for future bandwidth expansion programs at affordable 2.4 GHz costs.
