DMC Stratex Networks Secures $4 Million in Orders from China Mobile - Brief Article

Wireless Internet, May, 2001

DMC Stratex Networks has received contracts totaling approximately $4 million to supply wireless equipment for cellular network infrastructure build-out to China Mobile, the leading cellular telecommunications service provider in China in terms of subscriber base and coverage.

The contracts include requirements for the Altium, XP4, and DXR product lines in the 7 GHz, 15 GHz, and 18 GHz radio frequency bands. The orders for equipment ranging from 155-Mbps to lower capacity long-haul products operating in multiple frequencies demonstrate the benefits of the broad wireless product offering of DMC Stratex Networks. Shipments have already begun this quarter.

China Mobile, formerly China Telecom, owns an estimated market share of more than 80 percent of cellular subscribers in mainland China, and has a cellular telephone network that reaches all cities and counties and most major roads and highways throughout the country. As China Mobile continues to grow and incorporate more wireless equipment into its network, it has selected DMC Stratex Networks to meet its increased wireless transmission requirements for delivering mobile telecommunications services to more than 60 million subscribers.

China Mobile will utilize DMC Stratex Networks' products to interconnect its base stations within its GSM networks in a number of Chinese provinces, including Chongqing, Guizhou, Beijing, Fujian, Shanxi, and Heilongjiang, for data and voice transport for subscribers. DMC Stratex Networks won the orders in partnership with PTIC Capitel Group (Beijing Telecommunications Equipment Factory), a major manufacturer of telecommunications products and an official representative of DMC Stratex Networks within China. The PTIC Capitel Group provides system integration, localized installation, technical support, and customer service for DMC Stratex Network systems within China.
