Qualcomm Shares Fall over Concerns of 3G Rollout Delay - Brief Article

Wireless Internet, May, 2001

Qualcomm's shares fell after a report in the Financial Times quoted its CEO as saying that some of the company's 3G wireless technology would not be rolled out in Europe until 2004 or 2005. The technology was expected to be rolled out next year. The company issued a statement clarifying that the CEO was referring only to a certain type of 3G technology, code-division multiple access, not to all of the technology.

The company's other technology, cdma2000, is on track. Stocks recovered somewhat after the statement was released.
