Dollar Rent A Car Goes Wireless; dollar.com Now Available to Palm Pilot or Similar Handheld Device Users - Brief Article

Wireless Internet, May, 2001

Dollar Rent A Car announced customers can now book a vehicle directly through dollar.com from popular personal data assistants like the Palm VIIx, Handspring, or any Palm OS device that has access to the Internet. dollar.com's Palm Query Application (PQA) offers a simple interface, allowing customers to check rates, make or cancel reservations in minutes. The application includes on-line help and e-mail support options.

Once a reservation has been made, customers have the option to save the information to the memo pad on their devices. This allows customers to view their reservations using handheld devices, without having to access the Internet. Customers can log onto the dollar.com home page to download and install the Palm Dollar Reservations applications, free of charge.

"We're excited to bring this new service to our customers," said Charlie Coniglio, staff vice president of e-commerce. "Customers now have the additional convenience to book Dollar cars anytime, anywhere using these handheld devices."
