Cell-Loc Beta Tests Fleet Tracking Application Using Cellocate Beacon I - Brief Article

Wireless Internet, July, 2001

Cell-Loc Inc., a developer of wireless location technology and services, announced that beta testing of the TimesThree commercial fleet tracking service has commenced in Austin, TX, using the company's recently announced Cellocate Beacon I and the Cellocate Network. The purpose of the beta test is to evaluate the functionality of the wireless location network, the fleet tracking application, and the field deployment of the Cellocate Beacon I.

The ability to use the Cellocate Beacon for applications such as fleet tracking and asset tracking has garnered interest from numerous organizations in Austin. Included in this fleet beta test are:

- The City of Austin EMS, the city's emergency medical service provider;

- South Side Wrecker Services, one of Austin's largest towing companies, which also offers roadside assistance; and

- Van's Auto Parts, one of Austin's leading auto supply stores with a large fleet of delivery vehicles.

The fleet tracking service allows participants to easily locate members of their vehicular fleets and to effectively manage their movements. As with Cell-Loc's other services, fleet tracking is powered by LocationBroker, a highly scalable and robust middleware platform for location-based services. The test period will run for approximately three months. Cell-Loc successfully beta tested its fleet tracking service on the Calgary network in 2000.
