Comverse's Multimedia Messaging and Wireless Internet Messaging Selected by Spanish Wireless Operator, Xfera - Comverse Inc - Brief Article

Wireless Internet, August, 2001

Comverse, a unit of Comverse Technology, announced the sale of multimedia messaging services (MMS) and wireless instant messaging to Spanish wireless operator, Xfera.

Xfera, a consortium of international and local companies, including ACS, Vivendi, Sonera, Mercapital, Alba, ACESA, and several saving banks of Spain, is one of the four mobile operators that have been awarded a UMTS license in Spain.

Comverse's MMS is a standards-based platform that allows mobile users to exchange multimedia messages and runs on GPRS and UMTS networks. It will provide Xfera's subscribers using a simple browser handset or PDA with the ability to create, send, and receive messages with audio, pictures, text, animation, and streaming video.

Comverse's wireless instant messaging is a suite of applications that enables the creation of mobile communities among mobile users and Internet users.

MMS and instant messaging are designed to generate new revenue streams in the 2.5G and 3G environments. Comverse's scalable and flexible platform allows Xfera to expand with the growth of its subscriber base.
