Samsung Selects Conexant's SoftAMC Audio/Modem Chipset for its Notebook Offering - Samsung Electronics Company Ltd.'s SENS 640 notebook computer - Brief Article

Wireless Internet, Sept, 2000

Conexant Systems announced that Samsung Electronics has chosen Conexant's SoftAMC audio/modem chipset to provide modem connectivity and audio support for the new Samsung SENS 640 notebook computer. Conexant's SoftAMC is a low-cost audio/modem solution designed specifically for mobile computers.

Samsung's SENS 640 notebook computer is targeted for the Asian and European markets, and features an Intel Mobile Celeron Processor, up to 256 MB SDRAM, 3D accelerated graphics, an Intel 440MX CoreLogic chipset, an integrated floppy disk drive and CD-ROM drive, and a 12.1 inch or 14.1 inch thin film transistor (TFT) display.

Conexant's SoftAMC eliminates the need for a separate bus interface device, making it compatible with any bus configuration and allowing it to achieve the lowest possible system cost. The SoftAMC system solution offers enhanced modem features including caller ID tracking, voice over IP and wake-on-ring functionality. Going beyond baseline modem functionality, the SoftAMC audio/modem solution also supports Conexant's soft audio technologies, including its professional-quality wavetable synthesis solutions.
