Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients, Nov, 2003 by Morton Walker, Randall Walker
Aging, a natural bodily process, occurs to all living creatures. From the viewpoint of holistic medicine, a working definition of aging may be applied to practically all clinical patients. The definition is adapted almost universally by health professionals. Most CAM therapists affirm: Aging is a gradual accumulation of toxic chemicals and other substances in the body which cause genome destabilization and resultant catastrophic breakdown of tissue homeostasis.

Since a tie-in between cancer and aging exists, the definition was confirmed on May 16, 2003 by anticancer therapist Stanislaw Burzynski, MD, of Houston, Texas. During his presentation before the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM), Dr. Burzynski emphasized: "Links between cancer and aging are well known and clearly visible. The incidence of cancer increases as humans age, due to decreased anti-tumor defenses, mutation, and the silencing of tumor suppressor genes through methylation and deacetylation, along with exposure to carcinogens, a decline in immune defense, and decreased DNA repair." (1)
The aging definition cited above by CAM therapists encompasses their most important physiological objectives: first, remove toxic substances from the body, next, repair the damage that has already been done, and finally, protect the physiology from any further damage. Such medical treatment will return the body to a self-sustaining state of homeostasis. All objectives for homeostasis derive from the need to stabilize DeoxyriboNucleic Acid (DNA).
It may surprise readers that the research which catapulted deoxyribonucleic acid to the forefront of medical science was published in the British scientific journal Nature just 50 years ago, on April 25, 1953, by Nobel Laureates James Watson, PhD, and Francis Crick, PhD. However, even more dramatic breakthroughs for science and medicine occurred two decades after these DNA structural revelations. The results are now being brought to public attention for the first time. From the molecular biochemical investigations of Mirko Beljanski, PhD, highly significant breakthroughs about cancer and aging are finally available in published form (see Photographs 1, 2, 3, 4 showing the molecular biologist at work in his laboratory).
During the spring months of 2003, holistic physician Michael B. Schachter, MD, of Suffern, New York introduced "Dr. Mirko Beljanski's Innovative Approach to Cancer, Chronic Viral Diseases, and Autoimmune Conditions." (2,3)
Mirko Beljanski, PhD (1923-1998)
Born in Yugoslavia in 1923, this producer of momentous breakthroughs in molecular biology and medical science, Mirko Beljanski, immigrated to France. During 1949 he took up residency and citizenship in a country renowned for scientific advancement and technological innovation. After earning a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Paris, the young scientist set off on a search for truth which lasted until his death on October 28, 1998. The object of Dr. Beljanski's passion was nothing less than the source of life itself: human DNA.
In all cells, DNA functions as the molecule of heredity. It dwells in the cellular nucleus and stores genetic information for making ribonucleic acid (RNA) molecules and proteins, plus each of its strands serves as a template for its own replication. As per the Watson and Crick discovery, DNA is composed of two strands made up of nucleotides wound around each other into a double helix and linked together by hydrogen bonds between the bases of the nucleotides. Dr. Beljanski discovered precancerous and cancerous cell DNA loci where the separation of the double helix was permanent. In turn, these permanent openings provoke abnormal expression of the genes and make such DNAs especially susceptible to many aggressive molecules. When deregulations add up they translate into diverse pathologies such as cancers, degenerative diseases, and/or viral infections.
Although his findings are scientifically outstanding, Dr. Beljanski's breakthrough information remains nearly unrecognized by almost all medical and scientific groups. The oncological community of France, the country of Beljanski's information origin, has in fact largely kept his findings away from medical consumers and their health care providers. As a result, people have been denied vital information.
The Sparking Substances for All Living Things
Found in DNA and RNA are two types of nucleic acids, the life-sparking substances: [1] single-ringed pyrimidines containing the amino groups for cytosine (C) and uracil (U) or thymine (T), plus [2] the double-ringed purines containing adenine (A) and guanine (G). (Note that thymine is predominately present in DNA with only a tiny amount as part of tRNA.)
Dr. Beljanski was intimately knowledgeable about such sparking substances (C, U, T, A & G) for all living things. He published 133 scientific papers in mostly peer-reviewed journals about this subject of his deep and abiding interest. Also he pointed out the importance of purine nucleotides in the DNA as target sites for exogenous substances such as environmental pollutants.
