Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients, Feb-March, 2004 by Eleonore Blaurock-Busch
Editor:
I did not expect such a modern environment. Even by American standards, this treatment center is a pleasant surprise, not just because it is set in the midst of the modern indoor Promenade shopping center. All glass, lots of natural light. A great idea. After all, patients should escape disease in more than one way, and the convenience helps, especially if you like Sushi, hip clothing and friendly people.

The International Biomedical Center (IBC) was created with patients' comfort in mind. It is a unique clinic for holistic treatment, and while its main focus is chelation therapy, this modern treatment center provides nutritional therapy (who would think of that in Poland!), herbal therapy, homeopathy, magnetotherapy, chiropractic, acupuncture and acupressure. Oxytherapy is part of the program. Also known as biooxidation, this treatment is said to revitalize the human body. At IBC, oxytherapy is considered necessary to support intracellular metabolic processes. "The level of oxygen in the blood will reduce with ageing," Dr. Krynski says, "and this is a cause of many degenerative diseases." Moreover, oxytherapy is considered an important addition to chelation therapy.
And chelation is the clinic's main focus. This is no surprise. After all Dr. Peter J. VanDerSchaar, MD and President of the International Board of Chelation Therapy, has modelled, even structured this treatment center. For a cardio-pulmonary surgeon, Dr. VanDerSchaar is amazingly open to all types of treatments, even practices manipulation (but only after seeing needed X-rays). His chelation center in Leende, Holland stood as model for the Warsaw Center. He often visits; supervises chelation and other treatments.
"The beneficial effect of EDTA on atherosclerotic disease must be attributed to its detoxifying effect," he says. "And, yes, in the course of 5 decades thousands of patient have been treated with EDTA Chelation therapy for atherosclerotic disease, with significant beneficial effect. It has appeared to be a remarkably safe therapy, with less undesirable side effects than caused by aspirin."
Dr. VanDerSchaar is mentor to a formidable staff. Zygmunt Bronz, doctor of rehabilitation science and Secretary of the Polish Acupuncture Association studied acupuncture in Korea, Mongolia and China. Wojciech Eichelberger, Psychologist and psychotherapist is a co-founder of The Psycho Education Lab and the author of popular psychological books. Stanislaw Jedrzejczyk, Doctor of medical sciences, served as Vice-President and President of the Polish Homeopathy Supporters Association and is Editor of the quarterly: Homeopatia Polska and Jacek Krynski MD, who specializes in internal medicine and clinical oncology. He is proficient in Hindu medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, dietetics and herbalism.

Foreigners benefit from Poland's economy, and the staff's eagerness to please. Nobody seems hurried. People pay attention and smile. Submitting doctors and their patients are free to choose from a complete holistic treatment schedule. Patients come for a series of chelation therapy or select any part of it according to their preference and need. Considering the expertise of the medical team, treatment costs are suprisingly affordable. A consultation with the oncologist or a chelation treatment costs US$25. Psychotherapy treatment or a standard blood test is less than that, and a Japanese massage or a thermopuncture costs about US$15 or less. Interestingly, a hair mineral analysis (a part of the provided laboratory diagnostics) is one of the more expensive tests, costing about US$80.
