Worried about the risk of atypical antipsychotics for your child? Homeopathic Medicine offers a safer alternative

Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients, Oct, 2006 by Robert Ullman, Judyth Reichenberg-Ullman

Food cravings included a passion for garlic cloves, lemons, and dill pickles. In fact, he could polish off an entire jar of pickles in a day.

The first medicine we gave Corky was Belladonna. Corky's behavior worsened. At his six-week follow-up appointment, we changed the medicine to Stramonium (thorn apple). Very closely related to Belladonna, Stramonium is one of the most commonly prescribed medicines for a combination of violence and terror.

Corky progressed very well with Stramonium over the next 20 months, needing seven doses in all. Within a matter of weeks, he calmed down, listened, and focused better. He was able to sit still. He could still throw things when upset, but the biting and spitting had stopped. Going to sleep at night was much smoother, and Corky no longer awakened at four in the morning (a detail his mom had forgotten to mention initially). Four months after taking the Stramonium, Corky's symptoms were at least 50% better across the board. Easier to talk to and deal with, he was now receptive to his mother's requests. Corky no longer hurt his sister daily as he had done previously. His sister was amazed that she could actually talk with Corky on a friendly basis. During his visit to his grandmother, all she could talk about was the night-and-day difference in Corky. "I even enjoy being around my grandson now, "she exclaimed.

Thankfully, Corky's fears and impulsiveness decreased and going to bed was no longer a battle. He was able to get along with other kids much better. Corky cried real tears at appropriate times. He was also down to just one pickle a day. After nine months on Stramonium, Corky's mom estimated his turnaround at 60-75% improvement, and Corky continued to improve with occasional doses of the medicine.

As you can readily see, either of these youngsters' cases would have qualified for anticonvulsants and atypical antipsychotic medicines if seen by a conventional child psychiatrist. Homeopathic treatments with Scorpion and Stramonium enabled these boys to have a much more normal life and protected them, and those around them, from serious harm. So, if you are a parent or practitioner who is wary of having your child or patient on atypical antipsychotics, dissatisfied with the response, or concerned about unwanted or life-threatening side effects, consider homeopathy. You will be pleasantly amazed at the lack of side effects and likely very pleased by the readily observable results, which are often quite dramatic.
