Patient objectives and physician responsiveness

Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients, Feb-March, 2007 by Robert A. Anderson

"Patients want accessibility, affability, and ability in that order. They do not care how much you know until they know how much you care." It is much more important to know what sort of a patient has a disease than to know what kind of a disease a patient has (Osler). The secret of caring for the patient is caring for the patient. Now is the time to develop new structural features in our practices to give patients what they need and want.
