Rally 'round the Team

RMA Journal, The, April, 2004 by Robert Lane

Dear Editor:

I enjoyed reading Naomi Moneypenny's article on culture (February 2004). In it, she discusses team and individual empowerment. Many years ago, I had the opportunity, to attend a presentation by a Special Forces team at Fort Bragg, NC. The one thing that stuck with me was that these teams never leave anyone behind. I'm not sure how long Special Forces teams have been in existence, but "no one left behind" is an attribute from which all teams, corporate or otherwise, could learn. The practice of teams rallying around and assisting struggling team members is one that will benefit any organization, as this should result in enhanced teamwork and team member dedication to the organization.
