XFP transceiver for network transmission systems: Link Microtek

Telecommunications International, Nov, 2004

Link Microtek, which represents TriQuint Semiconductor, has launched XFP MSA compliant 10Gbits transceivers for SONET/SDH 40km and 80km, and 10Gbits Ethernet 40km applications. The transceivers are said to provide better performance by using TriQuint's optical engines, which allow various functions including differential data inputs. The transceivers are designed for use in network transmission systems. In SONET, they operate at SONET OC-192 standard and FEC rates. In SDH, they operate at STM-64 standard and FEC rates. It is said that hin high-speed data communications, the transceivers can operate at both 10G Ethernet and 10G fibre channel rates, based on the IEEE 802.3ae standards.
