Intel's modular customers

Telecommunications International, July, 2004

Chipset-maker Intel has announced the first customers to its modular communications platform: Huawei Technologies and Korea Telecom. Based on the Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA), which runs on the Linux operating system, Intel's platforms and components are designed to enable suppliers and service providers to develop products quicker and at lower cost compared to proprietary equipment.

Huawei says it will have next-generation infrastructure platforms, based on ATCA, ready for delivery later this year. Korea Telecom is piloting ATCA-based components to deliver multimedia services.
