The Dan Ryan Expressway

Chicago Reporter, The, July, 2001

* About 500 South Side residents and community leaders, who say they are fed up with predatory lenders and currency exchanges charging exorbitant fees, are forming a nonprofit credit union. The Partnership for South Side Community Development Credit Union should open in 2002 to serve residents and business owners between 12th and 95th streets, from Lake Michigan to the Dan Ryan Expressway, said Al Hofeld Jr., a consultant to the group.

Hofeld noted people who use currency exchanges can save as much as $350 per year by switching to credit unions.
