The basic objective of Templeton Global Smaller Companies is to achieve long-term capital appreciation. The fund invests primarily in a portfolio of securities of smaller companies throughout the world. "Smaller" means companies having under U.S.$1 billion in market capitalization. The criteria for stock selection are: (1) earnings growth over time is above that of the economy, (2) the company is likely to become more widely recognized, or (3) bouncing back from financial or other difficulties.
