IFAC spreads its online KnowledgeNet

Financial Management (UK), Nov, 2006

CIMA has joined the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and other accountancy bodies from around the world to launch the IFAC KnowledgeNet: an innovative search engine designed to assist you in your accountancy studies and day-to-day professional life.

Available at www.cimaglobal.com/resources, the search engine is a one-stop means of accessing leading articles, good-practice guidelines and cutting-edge tools and techniques--all aimed at helping you to perform competently and compete effectively. This resource will help you not only to stay in touch with accountancy developments worldwide, but also to keep up with continuing professional education and knowledge development.

CIMA has been working with IFAC to develop the KnowledgeNet for the past four years. There will be no charge to use the search engine, although some results may identify documents and publications for sale. Additional sources will be added and the breadth of information increased over the next few months.

Like other search engines, the IFAC KnowledgeNet will scan web sites for key terms and phrases and will deliver the results in order of relevance. Unlike other search engines, its search function will deliver targeted information based on an index of documents on the web sites of IFAC member bodies.

The search engine is designed to support professional accountants around the world by providing easy access to the combined global knowledge resources of the member organisations. IFAC KnowledgeNet will provide high-quality information on a range of topics including: strategy; budgeting; management; planning; corporate governance; risk management; and professional development.
