Jack D. Dale
After spending most of his career in the state of Washington, Jack Dale has moved to Maryland as superintendent of the Frederick County schools. He was associate superintendent for school administration in the Edmonds, Wash., schools. Earlier, Dale was director of personnel in the Everett, Wash., district.
David T. D'Alonzo
A 24-year staff member of the Somerset County, N.J., Vocational and Technical Schools has been elevated to the superintendency. David D'Alonzo has served since 1988 as assistant superintendent. He also worked in the system as athletic director, coordinator of program development, and high school principal.
Evalyn W. Jerkins
The Pawling, N.Y, Central Schools welcomed a new superintendent this fall in Evalyn Jerkins. She spent the past six years as superintendent of Spartanburg County, S.C., District No. 3. Jerkins also has worked as an assistant superintendent in Ocean Springs, Miss., and principal in Moss Point, Miss.
Diane M. Scheerhorn
Following four years as superintendent in Byron, Mich., Diane Scheerhorn has moved into the same post in Gaylord, Mich. Scheerhorn previously was a principal in Byron and Bloomfield Hills, Mich. She recently received the Michigan State University Doctorate Award for Academic Excellence.
Eric J. Smith
After four years as superintendent in Newport News, Va., Eric Smith has crossed the border to assume the top post of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg, N.C., district. Earlier, Smith was superintendent for two years in Danville, Va. He also served as chief officer for management and planning in Volusia County, Fla.
Eileen J. Smith-Stevens
A 14-year stint in the superintendency has concluded for Eileen Smith-Stevens, now an assistant professorship at Lehigh University. She held the top administrative posts in the New Jersey districts of Wall Township, Rumson, and Shrewsbury. She was president of the New Jersey Association of School Administrators.
