Changes in the Air and on Paper
School Administrator, Nov, 1999
If you already thumbed your way through this issue of The School Administrator, you probably noticed an insert, something we have titled AASA Bulletin.
This is one of several noteworthy changes that take effect this month. The AASA Bulletin, prepared by the association's marketing staff, carries the familiar Job Bulletin, the most extensive compilation of employment opportunities in school system leadership nationwide, as well as the latest details about upcoming AASA conferences and professional development activities and information about new AASA publications.
AASA Bulletin will appear each month as a 4- to 8-page supplement to the magazine. It replaces the print version of Leadership News (AASA newsletter of the past 12 years), which has been discontinued in favor of a daily news service on AASA Online (www.aasa.org).
In addition, beginning with this issue, The School Administrator will be mailed monthly to every public school superintendent in the United States. Our hope is that those who are not members of AASA will consider joining in order to receive the other benefits of membership in the only professional association committed to the needs of school district leadership.
From a truly selfish standpoint, one of the best new benefits of AASA membership is the capacity to search AASA Online by keyword for the full text of any article that's appeared in The School Administrator since January 1996. When you're preparing a background report for the next-day school board meeting, this could be an especially useful service at your fingertips.
One final change: With this issue, Paul Houston's popular "Executive Perspective" column will appear every month rather than alternate months.
What else might you like to see in your association's magazine? I'm standing by for your suggestions.
