Kristin O. Anderson

After a four-year stint as superintendent of the Fertile-Beltrami schools in northwest Minnesota, Kristin Anderson has moved into the superintendency of the Rockford, Minn., district. She earlier spent eight years in Crookston, Minn., serving as an elementary principal, community education director and early childhood education coordinator.

Marion A. Bolden

The New Jersey State Board of Education has appointed Marion Bolden to serve as superintendent of the Newark, N.J., Public Schools, where she had been the associate superintendent of teaching and learning for three years. Previously, she directed the district's Office of Mathematics. Bolden, is a Newark native.

Cheryl Hightower

The new deputy superintendent of the Oakland, Calif., Unified Schools is Cheryl Hightower, a native of the city and graduate of the Oakland school system. Hightower previously was superintendent in Alameda County, Calif., an organization she joined in 1985. She also served as staff developer and associate superintendent of curriculum.

Dale Kimball

Following five years as superintendent in Port Aransas, Texas, Dale Kimball is back to the Wolverine State as superintendent of the Pennfield Schools in Battle Creek, Mich. Kimball previously served in the same capacity for six years in White Pigeon, Mich., where he also worked as high school principal. He began his career in Portage, Mich.

Paul H. Koehler

Paul Koehler has left school administration to serve as director of policy at WestEd, one of the federal research labs. He had served since 1995 as superintendent in Peoria, Ariz., and earlier as the district's assistant superintendent for academic services. Koehler also served as associate state superintendent in the Arizona Department of Education.

Edward Meyer

The Chichester School District in Boothwyn, Pa., has a new superintendent in Ed Meyer. Previously, he held district superintendencies in Richland Center, Wis.; Missouri Valley, Iowa; and Sheffield, Iowa. Meyer also worked as a principal at the elementary and middle school levels and started as a math and science teacher.
