Monte L. Bridges
The Puget Sound Educational Services District in Burien, Wash., has selected Monte Bridges as its new deputy superintendent, ending a 13-year career in Vashon Island, Wash. Bridges worked as Vashon's superintendent, assistant superintendent for instruction, director of instruction and special services and coordinator of student services.
Anthony P. Cavanna
Anthony Cavanna has left school administration to serve as professor of professional practice in the department of teaching and learning at New York University. He had served for four years as superintendent of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District in Plainview, N.Y. Previously, Cavanna was superintendent in Rahway, N.J.
William K. Grizzell
William Grizzell, whose education career in West Virginia started in 1969, has been named superintendent of the Lincoln County School District in Hamlin, W.Va. He served since 1993 as superintendent of the Nicholas County district in Summersville, W.Va. Earlier, Grizzell was superintendent in Morgan County, W.Va.
Ernest A. Husarik
After 14 years as the superintendent of the Westerville, Ohio, City School District, Ernest Husarik has assumed the superintendency of the Carmel Clay Schools in Carmel, Ind. His earlier experience includes 11 years as superintendent of the Euclid, Ohio, City Schools. Husarik also has served as superintendent in Mansfield, Ohio.
W. Craig Misner
Craig Misner has been appointed to the superintendency of the Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency in Kalamazoo, Mich. He previously served for 10 years as superintendent of the Parchment, Mich., School District and earlier worked as superintendent in Hopkins, Mich., and principal in the Kalamazoo, Mich., School District.
Santiago V. Wood
Santiago Wood is the new superintendent of the 80,000-student Fresno, Calif., Unified School District, the state's fourth largest. He had served since 1996 as superintendent of the Alum Rock Elementary School District in San Jose, Calif. Earlier, Wood was deputy superintendent of the West Contra Costa Unified Schools in Richmond, Calif.
