Nearly $1.5 million available for Scholarships in the 11th Annual Tribute Award program

Applications are now being accepted for the Discover Card Tribute Award Scholarships. The eleven-year-old scholarship program for high school juniors is sponsored by Discover Financial Services Inc. in cooperation with AASA.
To apply for the 2003 program, students must be high school juniors as of September 2002, have a cumulative grade point average for the 9th and 10th grade years of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale, and be enrolled in an accredited public or private high school in the United States. They also must have outstanding achievements in three of the four areas: leadership, special talents, community service and obstacles overcome.
Scholarships may be used for any type of education or training beyond high school, including certification or licensing programs, trade or technical school, two- or four-year colleges and universities.
Up to nine $2,500 scholarships are available in each state and the District of Columbia and up to nine $25,000 national scholarships will be awarded--over 460 scholarships in all.
Completed applications must be received by AASA by Friday, January 10, 2003.
Application materials for the 2003 program were sent to all U.S. high school guidance departments m mid-August 2002 and are available online at uvw.aasa.org/discover.htm or at www.discovercard.com/tribute.htm.
