James Bender
Following four years as superintendent in Little Falls, N.J., Jim Bender has moved into the superintendency of the Wyckoff Township, N.J., schools. Bender earlier was an administrator in Montclair, N.J., where he served as an elementary and middle school principal and as assistant to the superintendent.
Ronald L. Friedman
A decade as an assistant superintendent and deputy superintendent in Elmont, N.Y., has ended for Ron Friedman, who has assumed the top post with the Long Beach, N.Y., district, where he earlier spent four years as an assistant superintendent. He served two terms as president of the New York State Association of School Personnel Administrators.
Cynthia M. LeBlanc
The Hayward, Calif., Unified Schools have a new deputy superintendent in Cynthia LeBlanc. She spent the previous six years as associate superintendent in San Francisco. Earlier, she worked as assistant and deputy superintendent in Novato, Calif., and was director of personnel and chief of employer-employee relations in Newark, Calif.
Richard Maxwell
Dick Maxwell assumes the reins of the Buckeye Association of School Administrators Jan. 1 after six years with the association in Columbus, Ohio. He spent 23 years as a superintendent of West Holmes, Holmes County and the Holmes County Mental Retardation Development Disabilities Board. Maxwell was BASA's president in 1985-86.
Janet P. Shaner
Following a two-year stint as superintendent in West Chester, Pa., where her career began in 1975 as a high school teacher, Janet Shaner has moved into the superintendency in Weston, Conn. She served as assistant superintendent in West Chester for nine years and was an adjunct professor at Immaculata University.
Franklin Till
After nearly three decades in the San Diego Public Schools, Frank Till has moved to southern Florida as superintendent of the Broward County schools. In San Diego, Till most recently was senior deputy to the superintendent. Earlier, he served as assistant superintendent for educational services, principal and assistant principal.
