Vickie Markavitch has become just the sixth superintendent in the 63-year history of the 228,000-student Oakland Intermediate School District in Waterford, Mich. She spent the last six years as superintendent of the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corp. in Mishawaka, Ind., and earlier Markavitch served as superintendent of Niles Township District 219 and Skokie School District 73 1/2, both in Skokie, Ill.
She received her doctorate in educational administration in 1991 from Michigan State University.
