John H. Handfield
The School Administrative Unit 71 in Lempster, N.H., has a new superintendent, John Handfield. He previously served as assistant superintendent of the SAU 43 in Newport and superintendent of SAU 34 in Hillsboro and SAU 17 in Kingston. Handfield began his 31-year career in education as a teacher in New Hampshire.
Suellen Harris
Suellen Harris has been appointed deputy superintendent for curriculum, instruction and pupil services of Prince George's County Public Schools in Upper Marlboro, Md. She spent the last six years as superintendent of Cape Henlopen School District in Lewes, Del. Prior to her move to Delaware, she served as superintendent in Roseville, Calif.
Randy L. Kimbrough
After an eight-year stint as deputy commissioner of the Bureau of Management Support Services at the Kentucky Department of Education, Randy Kimbrough will become Kentucky's resident director of the Appalachia Educational Laboratory. During her 40-year career, she served as superintendent in three Kentucky school districts.
Gary McHenry
The Mt. Diablo Unified School District in Concord, Calif., has appointed Gary McHenry as its new superintendent. He had served the past five years as superintendent of the 36,000-student Stockton, Calif., Unified School District. McHenry also worked as assistant superintendent of the Oakland Unified Schools.
Steven Starkey
After three years as superintendent of the Cloudcroft, N.M., School District, Steven Starkey is leaving to assume the superintendency of the Hagerman, N.M., School District. Earlier he was a high school principal and assistant principal in Artesia, N.M. Starkey has also worked as a physical education instructor, biology and history teacher.
John E. Tindal
The newly state-appointed superintendent of the Allendale County, S.C., School District is John Tindal. He spent the previous two years as associate superintendent in Orangeburg, S.C., Consolidated School District Four. Tindal earlier was superintendent of Orangeburg School District One. He also has worked as a principal.
