Mike Bugenski

Mike Bugenski has been named state director for the North Central Association in Ann Arbor, Mich. Previously, he was associate executive director for the Michigan Association of School Administrators. Bugenski also was assistant director of educational services at St. Clair County Intermediate District in Port Huron, Mich.

Gerald D. Dawkins

After spending more than 25 years with the Grand Rapids, Mich., Public Schools, Gerald Dawkins recently was appointed superintendent in Saginaw, Mich. During his long stint in Grand Rapids, Dawkins served as assistant superintendent, chief of staff, curriculum supervisor and coordinator of the career realization program.

Margene E. Dean

After four years as superintendent of the Cajon Valley School District in El Cajon, Calif., Marge Dean is moving on to become executive director of the Principal Development Partnership, a foundation-supported group based in La Jolla, Calif. Dean has spent more than 30 years in Cajon Valley schools working in various capacities.

Linda L. Galton

Westport, Mass., has a new superintendent in Linda Galton. She previously spent five years as superintendent in Woodstock, Conn., and three years in Lancaster, Mass. During a break from the superintendency, Galton served as senior research associate for the Program for Reinventing Public Education with the University of Washington/Rand Corp.

James E. Mitchell

Groton, Conn., has a new superintendent in James Mitchell, who has spent more than three decades working in the Groton Public Schools. He has served as deputy superintendent, director of pupil personnel and special education services, and director of guidance and counseling. Mitchell also spent one year directing the Minority Cultural Center.

Larry Vick

Larry Vick, who has spent exactly half his life as a superintendent, has moved into the top job with the Owensboro, Ky., Public Schools. He spent the past 15 years in the superintendency of the Paris, Tenn., Special School District. Vick earlier served for 12 years in Carroll County, Tenn., and a year in Trezevant, Tenn., schools.
