Anthony L. D'Acchioli

The 6,600-student Woonsocket, R.I., schools have a new superintendent, Anthony D'Acchioli. He previously spent seven years as superintendent in Webster, Mass. D'Acchioli earlier was interim superintendent in Tiverton, R.I., assistant superintendent in Sharon, Mass., and principal in East Greenwich, R.I.

Maureen L. Hager

Maureen Hager has joined Mount Pleasant, Ill., School District 57 as superintendent. She served since 1992 as assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction in Arlington Heights, Ill., a district she joined as a junior high teacher in 1975. Hager worked as principal for five years.

Leon T. Hobbs

Leon Hobbs has moved into the superintendency of the 9,500-student Dothan, Ala., City Schools. He comes to the post after 28 years in Osceola County, Fla., system, most recently as an elementary school principal. Earlier, he spent five years as the district's elected superintendent.

Steve I. Johnson

The 2,290-student Madison District Public Schools in Madison Heights, Mich., have named a new superintendent, Steve Johnson. He spent the past nine years as superintendent in Dayton, Ore. Earlier, Johnson was superintendent in Days-Creek, Ore., and he served as president of the Oregon Small Schools Association.

James Elmer MacDonald

After six years as chief executive of the Pictou District School Board, Elmer MacDonald has been named superintendent of the Chignecto-Central Regional Schools, also in Nova Scotia, Canada. Earlier, MacDonald was superintendent of operations in Pictou, where he has worked for most of the last 24 years.

Beulah M. Mitchell

Following a two-year stint as assistant superintendent in Pleasantville, N.J., Beluah Mitchell has been appointed superintendent of the East Rapids, Mich., Public Schools. Mitchell earlier served as director of instruction and literacy in Paterson, N.J. She also held posts in Plainfield, N.J., and Franklin Township, N.J.
