Clark Brody
The Oregon Department of Education has appointed Clark Brody to deputy state superintendent, ending a 27-year career with the Centennial School District 28J in Portland, Ore. At Centennial, Brody worked as elementary school principal, middle school principal and high school principal and most recently as assistant superintendent.
Nicke J. Gaspers
Nicke Gaspers has assumed the superintendency of the Williston, S.C., School District. He spent the last 3 1/2 years as a high school principal in the Dorchester County, S.C. Gaspers also served as a principal in Georgetown County and Berkeley County, also in South Carolina. He began his career as a middle school social studies teacher.
David H. Larson
After 35 years in public education in Connecticut, David Larson will become the new executive director of the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents in July. He was the superintendent in Middletown, Conn., since 1992 and earlier served as superintendent in Ridgefield. He was the 1998 Connecticut Superintendent of the Year.
Gary W. Mills
Following a six-year stint as superintendent of the Mark Twain Elementary School District in Angels Camp, Calif., Gary Mills has moved into the top post of the Albany, Calif., Unified School District. He earlier worked as superintendent in Sunnyvale Elementary School District and East Whittier City School District, both in California.
Carol Parmelee-Blancato
In her 31st year with the Middletown, Conn., school system, Carol Parmelee-Blancato has been named superintendent. She will oversee the same district where she was once a student. Parmelee-Blancato began her career in Middletown as a 4th-grade teacher. She also served as associate superintendent for curriculum and instruction.
Karen C. Woodward
After 12 years at the helm of Anderson, S.C., School District Five, Karen Woodward will assume the superintendency of the Lexington County School District in West Columbia, S.C. She had served as superintendent in Union County Schools and Greenwood School District 50, both in South Carolina.
