Eddy Bayardelle

After two years as superintendent of the Hempstead, N.Y. Public Schools, Eddy Bayardelle has assumed the post of chief operating officer for the U.S. Committee for UNICEF in New York City. Earlier, Bayardelle worked in New York City Public Schools as superintendent for monitoring and school improvement.

Cheryl Cox

The new director of special programs in the Garland, Texas, Independent School District is Cheryl Cox. She previously served as assistant superintendent for instruction and executive director for instruction in San Felipe/Del Rio, Texas. Earlier, Cox was a curriculum development specialist in San Angelo, Texas.

Clair M. Daniels

Leaving his early retirement behind, Clair Daniels has moved into the superintendency of the Culdesac, Idaho, school district. An educator for 29 years, Daniels held two previous superintendencies in Montana and Idaho. He also directed the Taegu Area Command Army Education Center in South Korea.

Albert D. Davidian

The Barnstable, Mass., Public Schools have a new superintendent, Al Davidian. He had been serving as the deputy superintendent in the Tigard-Tualatin, Ore., district since 1987. Earlier he was the principal of Tigard High School and the principal of Klamath, Ore., Union High School.

Ted Sanders

Ted Sanders, Ohio superintendent of public instruction, was elected president-elect of the Council of Chief State School Officers. He will assume the presidency in November. Sanders has served as undersecretary in the U.S. Department of Education and chief state school officer in Illinois and Nevada.

Stephen L. Swanson

The Burlington, Iowa, Community School District has hired Stephen Swanson as superintendent. He was superintendent of the West Delaware County Schools in Manchester, Iowa, for 13 years. Swanson has served as an Iowa representative to the AASA Delegate Assembly for 15 years and currently sits on the Board of Tellers.
