Dudley E. Flood

A lengthy career in school leadership concludes at the end of March with the retirement of Dudley Flood as executive director of the North Carolina Association of School Administrators. Flood earlier spent 21 years with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, including a stint as associate state superintendent.

Philip E. Geiger

Educational Alternatives Inc. has promoted Phil Geiger from divisional president to corporate president. He joined the private company in 1994 following 25 years in public education. Geiger most recently was superintendent in Piscataway, N.J. He held the same post in Lexington, Mass., and Galloway Township, N.J.

Richard H. Goodman

After 20 years as executive director of the New Hampshire School Administrators Association, Dick Goodman will retire in June. He simultaneously served as director of the Center for Education Field Services at the University of New Hampshire and for 17 of those years also directed the state school boards association.

Susan M. King

After three years as an assistant superintendent in Millburn, N.J., Susan King has moved into the superintendency of the 760-student Montvale, N.J., district. King earlier was an assistant superintendent in Triton, Mass., and spent 11 years as a principal in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Vern L. Moore

A 24-year veteran of the Oklahoma City Public Schools, Vein Moore has been promoted to deputy superintendent of the district. He had been assistant superintendent for special programs. Earlier, Moore was the district's chief negotiator, director of middle schools, and a middle school principal.

Dolores F. Starbird

The new superintendent of School Administrative District 46, based in Dexter, Maine, is Dolores Starbird. She previously served as assistant superintendent and principal in Augusta, Maine. Starbird also has held principalships of elementary schools in Winnisquam, N.H., and Dover-Foxcroft, Maine.
