Carol Comeau

Carol Comeau has assumed the superintendency in Anchorage, Alaska, after serving as interim superintendent for three months. She became assistant superintendent for instruction in 1993 and earlier was executive director for elementary education. Comeau started with the district in 1987 as an elementary school principal.

Leslie A. Conlan

The Rutherford, N.J., School District has welcomed back Leslie Conlan as its new superintendent. Conlan started her career as a social studies teacher in Rutherford in 1972. Since then, she has served as a school-level administrator in Tenafly, N.J., and Pequannock Township, N.J., and as superintendent in Denville, N.J., for the past five years.

J. Ronald Hemmings

In his 32nd year in public education, Ronald Hemmings was named superintendent of the 3,200-student Window Rock Unified Schools in Fort Defiance, Ariz., the capital city of the Navajo nation. Previously Hemmings served as superintendent in Parker, Ariz., and the Chosen Valley Schools in Chatfield, Minn.

David P. Marchesseault

David Marchesseault left his hometown of Plainfield, Conn., last summer after nine years as superintendent and 28 years in all to assume the same berth in nearby Ashford, Conn. He began his educational career as a junior high English teacher in Plainfield, where he also worked in several principalships and as assistant superintendent.

Jerry W. Roy

The Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District in Baytown, Texas, has a new superintendent in Jerry Roy. This marks his 30th year with the district. Roy previously served as acting superintendent, executive director of personnel services, junior high principal, high school assistant principal and teacher.

Arthur Stellar

The High/Scope Educational Research Foundation has named Arthur Stellar its new president and CEO. Stellar previously was superintendent in Kingston, N.Y., and has held appointments nationwide, including acting superintendent in Boston, assistant superintendent in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and superintendent in Oklahoma City, Okla.
