Mental health

School Administrator, April, 2008 by Jeff Graber, Antoinette Rath

Bravo, Morton Sherman! What a wonderful essay ("A Call to Arms: Children's Mental Health") in your magazine's January issue on something that is long overdue to be addressed.

I totally agree that if we paid more attention to the mental health issues that Sherman so eloquently raised there would be positive outcomes in student achievement, less reliance on gangs as a source of belonging and a host of other benefits. His article will give school leaders a new sense of awareness about student mental heath.

Mort Sherman deserves thanks for sharing his wisdom and experiences on this issue. Mental health is an important topic that needs to be pushed to the forefront of many education discussions.
