Carol A. Hansen
After a year as assistant superintendent, Carol Hansen has moved into the top berth with the Albion, Mich., Public Schools. She earlier spent five years as the director of the leadership institute at The Learning Exchange in Kansas City, Mo. Hansen also was principal for six years of the Piper Elementary School in Kansas City, Kan.
Richard "Nick" Johns
Nick Johns has assumed the role of superintendent for the Newburgh, N.Y., Enlarged City School District. Previously, Johns served as superintendent in three Midwest school systems: Ames, Iowa; Gilbrator, Mich.; and the Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools in Galesburg, Mich.
Charles C. Lyle
Long Beach, Miss., has a new superintendent in Charles Lyle. He spent the past three years as superintendent of the Columbia, Miss., schools, after spending nine years in the top post of the West Jasper Consolidated School District in Bay Springs, Miss. Previously, Lyle also was principal of a middle school and junior high school.
Raymond J. McNulty
The Vermont Board of Education has named Raymond McNulty as the state's new education commissioner. McNulty comes from the superintendency of the Windham Southeast Supervisory Union, based in Brattleboro, Vt. Earlier he filled the superintendent's job in the Franklin Northeast Supervisory Union in Richford, Vt.
Joseph A. Pezak
After 11 years as superintendent in the Hunter-Tannersville Central Schools in Tannersville, N.Y., Joe Pezak returns to New Jersey as superintendent of the Byram Township School District in Stanhope, N.J. Previously he was principal at Mt. Olive High School and science department chair and vice-principal for 13 years in Mt. Olive Township, N.J.
Peg Portscheller
Peg Portscheller recently became the executive director for the Colorado Association of School Executives in Englewood, Cob. Prior to joining CASE, she served as director of policy initiatives for Mid-Continent Research for Education and Learning, a federal lab. Portscheller earlier held the superintendency in the Lake County School District in Leadville, Colo.
