Some of the mystique about nonpublic schools recently dissipated in the Hoosier State.
In its latest round of school accreditation ratings, the Indiana Department of Education issued probationary status to six schools, a third of which were nonpublic schools. Another 10 nonpublic and eight public schools were targeted for a site visit by fall 1997 to retain their full accreditation.
School are placed on probation for unsatisfactory student progress, noncompliance with the law, or an incomplete improvement plan.
