Peter T. Kachris
After a 12-year stint as superintendent of the Orleans-Niagara Board of Cooperative Educational Services in Medina, N.Y., Peter Kachris has moved into the superintendency of the Special School District of St. Louis County, Mo. He earlier worked in the Auburn, N.Y., Enlarged City School District as superintendent and principal.
Kathleen Keusenkothen
Kathleen Keusenkothen has been selected as the first female superintendent to lead the St. Charles, Mo., City School District. Keusenkothen is leaving the Mehlville School District in Sr. Louis, where she served as an area superintendent and earlier as the assistant superintendent of human resources. She previously was a principal.
Monte Littell
Monte Littell has assumed the superintendency of the Peoria, Ariz., Unified School District, the fourth largest district in the state. He has served for the past two years as the superintendent of the Everett, Wash., School District. Littell earlier worked as deputy superintendent and associate superintendent in Tucson, Ariz.
Rhoda R. Pierre
Rhoda Pierre has been appointed to the superintendency of the Amityville, N.Y., Union Free School District. She began her career in Amityville in 1989 as the assistant to the superintendent for personnel. Pierre also held positions as assistant superintendent for instruction and personnel and interim superintendent. Earlier she was a principal.
James A. Williams
James Williams is the new deputy superintendent of the Montgomery County Public Schools in Rockville, Md. He comes to the post after eight years as superintendent of the Dayton, Ohio, Public Schools. Williams also was deputy superintendent and assistant superintendent for intermediate/secondary instruction in Dayton.
David S. Walk
The Vermont Department of Education has appointed David Wolk as the new commissioner of education. Wolk, who chairs the AASA Resolutions Committee, had been superintendent of the Rutland, Vt., City School District for 3 1/2 years. He also worked as assistant superintendent and principal in Rutland and served as Rutland County state senator.
