Full Disclosure

School Administrator, August, 1997

Disclosure of superintendents' compensation packages as part of their districts' proposed school budgets does not seem to be influencing voter behavior in New York.

The state school boards association tallied 85 percent approval of school budgets submitted to public vote during the spring.

Under a new state law, beginning with 1997-98 budget proposals school districts are required to report salary, yearly cost of benefits, and all in-kind forms of remuneration for superintendents, deputy/associate superintendents, and assistant superintendents.
