Marc F. Bernstein

Marc Bernstein has assumed the presidency of Kaplan Learning Services, the K-12 division of Kaplan Test Prep, in New York, N.Y. Previously he served 14 years as superintendent of the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District in North Merrick, N.Y. Bernstein also worked as deputy superintendent in Roslyn, N.Y.

Jessie A. Farr

The new superintendent of the Fremont County School District 24 in Shoshoni, Wyo., is Jessie Farr. She will lead the district where she was once a student. Farr previously spent 23 years serving the Round Valley Unified School District 10 in Springerville, Ariz., most recently as superintendent. Earlier she worked as a vice principal.

Carlos Garcia

The Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nev., the 8th largest school district in the country with 217,000 students, has named Carlos Garcia as superintendent. Since 1997 he had worked as superintendent of the 79,000-student Fresno, Calif., Unified School District. Garcia earlier was superintendent in Sanger, Calif.

Herbert Wiley Garrett Jr.

Following a 32-year career in public schools, Herb Garrett has become the executive director of the Georgia School Superintendents Association. Previously, Garrett served as superintendent in a pair of Georgia school districts: Henry County and Jefferson. He also has worked as assistant to the superintendent, principal and English teacher.

Doris McEwen Walker

After a four-year stint as assistant superintendent of the Edmonds School District in Lynnwood, Wash., Doris Walker has moved into the superintendency of the Clover Park School District in Lakewood, Wash. Earlier she was an associate professor and department chair of educational leadership at Indiana University, South Bend, Ind.

Stewart M. Weinberg

The Ladue School District in St. Louis, Mo., has named Stewart Weinberg as its new superintendent. Most recently Weinberg served as superintendent of the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District in Fairbanks, Alaska. A native of New York, he previously worked as superintendent in Lawrence, N.Y.
