Credit the Internet - hiring of school superintendent Kenneth Arndt - Brief Article

School Administrator, Sept, 1995

Kenneth Arndt, who is starting his first year as superintendent of Decatur School District 61, discovered that his presence in cyberspace made him a known quantity to the search firm that recommended him for the job.

Arndt said he had lots of familiar talking points with Bill Attea, a principal in Hazard, Young and Associates, when they first met to discuss the job vacancy because Attea had been monitoring his contributions to an Internet discussion group related to K-12 school administration. "Another person on the interview team member wondered how long we knew each other and then was surprised that we had never met before," Arndt said.

"I guess you never know the potential of e-mail," he concluded.
