Parent Preferences

School Administrator, Sept, 1996

Parents in the Broward County schools are getting an unusual opportunity to influence how the school district spends its money to improve school facilities.

The district used parents in a communitywide survey of all school sites to determine how many classrooms or major renovations will be needed over the next five years to accommodate the constantly growing student population. Previously, Broward County left the crystal ball gazing to its own officials.

The results of the survey will form the basis for expenditure of limited capital outlay funds provided by the state.
