It's Full Steam Ahead for AASA's Center for Accountability Solutions - American Association of School Administrators - Brief Article

School Administrator, Sept, 2000

AASA is hard at work through its Center for Accountability Solutions (CAS) helping school leaders gather, use and report meaningful data on student, school and district performance. CAS is a three-year project funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Education Research and Improvement (OERI). As it concludes its first year, GAS is working with 15 districts from across the country to implement technology-enhanced, data-driven decision making. One part of the effort is focused on refining and helping districts implement an electronic Quality School Portfolio developed at the University of California's Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards and Student Testing, an early player in standards-based reform. The portfolio will assist school system leaders in disaggregating school and student data to support improved student outcomes. AASA will be working with 15 additional districts during each of the remaining two years of the project.

WestEd, a federally funded policy and research organization in California, will evaluate the project. For more information on the Center, please contact Geannie Wells at 703-875-0721 or gwells@aasa.org. If your school district is interested in participating in year 2 of CAS activities, please contact Michael Parker at 703-875-0714 or via e-mail at mparker@aasa.org.
