Robert D. Adams
After a decade as a human resources administrator with the Aurora, Colo., Public Schools, Robert Adams has been named superintendent. He served most recently as the district's assistant superintendent for human resources. Earlier, Adams was principal of Eagle Valley High School in Vail, Cob., and St. Louis High School in St. Louis, Mich.
Brian L. Benzel
Brian Benzel has returned to Spokane, Wash., as superintendent, 17 years after he left the superintendency in Mead, Wash., located in Spokane County. In the interim, Benzel spent three years as the chief operating officer with Seattle Public Schools and as superintendent in Edmonds, Wash., for 10 years. Benzel spent a year with Voyager Expanded Learning.
Herbert M. Berg
After 27 years as a superintendent, including the past six in Alexandria, Va., Herb Berg has been named executive director of the Association for the Advancement of International Education. Berg first became a superintendent in 1974 in Prosser, Wash. He also served in the top roles in Centralia and Pyllyup, Wash.
Veronica Garcia
Veronica Garcia, in her 28th year as a professional educator, has been named executive director of the New Mexico Coalition of School Administrators in Albuquerque, N.M. Garcia has served the past five years in Santa Fe, including two years as superintendent. She was New Mexico Superintendent of the Year in 2000-2001.
Sandra Husk
The Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools in Clarksville, Tenn., have a new superintendent in Sandy Husk. She spent the last five years at the helm of Mapleton Public Schools in Denver, Cob. Husk earlier was the executive director of learning services for Adams County School District 50 in Westminster, Colo.
Michael L. Johnson
Michael Johnson has been named superintendent in Bexley, Ohio. He was previously superintendent in Kenosha, Wis., for five years and superintendent in Pueblo, Colo., for 10 years. Johnson also served as Pueblo's assistant superintendent for business and school district treasurer. Johnson was an elementary school principal for six years.
